After many years of traditional right ventricular pacing, the pacing community has discovered that this approach may result in cardiac dyssynchrony  and severe deleterious consequences  (e.g. heart failure).

Pacing through the His bundle or its tributaries (physiologic pacing or PHP), to pace both ventricles simultaneously avoids dyssynchrony and is seen as a very promising alternative with multiple observed benefits leading to improved ventricular function. Current tools for physiologic pacing (PHP) are limited. Leadless devices for PHP are not available. There is a need for better tools, hence Eagle Point Medical’s mission is to make these tools a reality.

 

Our main concept, a single conduit lead providing multiple options for dual chamber PHP, has seen success in early animal studies and looks very promising for the future of PHP. This new concept for PHP consists of a multipronged single conduit lead that has been shown to provide sequential dual chamber pacing (capture of atrial tissue or His bundle from a single implant location from different individual electrodes of a single conduit  lead).

This technology will obviate the need for two leads to be implanted separately, facilitating a simplified implant procedure and giving numerous pacing and sensing options. It will also provide the potential for leadless concepts to be pursued.
